During my residency I was honored to hear a lecture by Dr. Harold Ridley, who is highly respected as the father of intraocular lens implants. He shared how the advancement of lens technology began when an RAF pilot got a piece of his plane’s plastic in one of his eyes after a fight during WWII. This experience was a very inspiring moment in my career.”
